PAINT CORRECTION

What Is Paint Correction?

Why Your Paint Doesn't Look Like It Used To

That dull, hazy look on your vehicle isn’t dirt, it’s damage. Thousands of tiny scratches and swirl marks have built up in your clearcoat over time, and they’re scattering light instead of reflecting it cleanly. That’s why your paint looks flat and lifeless instead of deep and glossy like the day you drove it home.

Here’s how it happens. Every trip through an automated car wash drags dirty brushes across your paint, grinding fine scratches into the surface. Hand washing with the wrong towels or technique does the same thing. North Carolina sun beats down on your clearcoat for years, causing oxidation that fades color and kills gloss. Bird droppings and tree sap especially common around here, are acidic enough to etch permanently into your finish if they sit for even a few days. Road salt during winter, pollen in spring, and industrial fallout
from nearby highways all add contamination that bonds to your paint and accelerates the damage.

The frustrating part is that no amount of washing or waxing fixes this. Wax sits on top of scratches and temporarily fills them in, which is why your car looks great for a day after a fresh wax and then goes right back to looking dull. The scratches are still there underneath. They never left.

Paint correction is the only way to actually remove them. Using professional-grade polishing systems, we carefully and precisely level the clearcoat surface, removing the damaged layer where scratches and swirl marks live. What’s left underneath is smooth, flawless clearcoat that reflects light the way it was designed to, giving you that deep, mirror-like finish with rich color depth and wet-look gloss that turns heads in any parking lot.

This isn’t cosmetic trickery or a temporary cover-up. It’s a permanent restoration of your paint’s true clarity, and the results are immediately visible from across the lot

Why Your Paint Doesn't Look Like it Used To

Every Correction Starts With Data, Not Guessing

Before a polisher ever touches your vehicle, we measure the paint thickness on every panel using a professional-grade thickness gauge. This tells us exactly how much clearcoat you have to work with, measured in microns, and determines the safest and most effective correction approach for your specific vehicle.

This matters because modern factory paint is thinner than most people realize, and every vehicle is different. Some panels come from the factory with more clearcoat than others. Some vehicles have been repainted or touched up by previous owners. Without measuring first, a shop is guessing, and guessing with your clearcoat means risking burning through the finish permanently.

We document these readings before correction begins and reference them throughout the process using Rupes and Flex professional polishing systems that give us precise control over every pass. Combined with premium Rag Company microfibers and professional-grade compounds selected specifically for your paint type, every step is calculated, not improvised. When we’re finished, you know your vehicle wasn’t just corrected. It was corrected safely, with the right tools, by trained hands, with the data to prove it

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between ceramic and carbon tint?

The biggest difference you’ll actually feel is heat rejection. Ceramic film uses nano-ceramic
technology that blocks 60-70% of infrared heat, the kind you feel radiating through your
windows on a hot day. Carbon film blocks 40-50%. Both block 99% of UV rays and both
come with a lifetime warranty, so your interior is protected equally either way. Where they
separate is comfort. Ceramic keeps your cabin noticeably cooler, reduces AC strain, and
maintains slightly better optical clarity. Carbon delivers excellent UV protection, a clean
appearance, and color-stable technology that will never purple, all at a lower investment.
If you spend significant time in your vehicle during North Carolina summers or park
outdoors regularly, ceramic is worth the upgrade. If you’re primarily after UV protection,
privacy, and a sharp look, carbon gets you there at a great value.

Yes, with specific limits. North Carolina requires at least 35% visible light transmission on front side windows, rear side windows, and the rear windshield. The front windshield only allows non-reflective tint above the AS-1 line, which is the top five inches or so, that’s your visor strip. Red, yellow, and amber colored films are not permitted. I walk every client through these legal limits during their consultation and help you choose the darkest legal shade that maximizes comfort and privacy without putting you at risk for fix-it tickets. If you have a medical condition requiring darker tint, NC does offer exemptions with proper documentation from your doctor.
How long does window tint last?
Both the ceramic and carbon films I install are backed by a lifetime warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking, and discoloration. With quality film and proper installation, you should expect your tint to look the same five to ten years from now as it does the day I install it. This is where film quality and installation technique make all the difference. The cheap dye-based films sold at bargain shops start purpling and bubbling within one to two years because the materials simply aren’t designed to last. The premium ceramic and carbon films I use are color-stable, fade-resistant, and engineered to perform for the life of your vehicle. Your tint is a one-time investment, not something you should ever need to redo.
How long does installation take?
Most vehicles are completed in two to three hours depending on the number of windows and complexity of the glass curves. SUVs and trucks with more glass surface area take slightly longer than sedans and coupes. I don’t rush installations to squeeze in more cars per day, your vehicle gets my full, undivided attention from start to finish in my climate controlled studio. I’ll give you a specific time estimate when you book so you can plan accordingly. I also offer pickup and dropoff if leaving your vehicle for a few hours works better for your schedule.
How soon can I roll my windows down after tinting?
Wait at least three to four days before rolling your windows down. The film needs time to fully cure and bond to the glass, and rolling windows down too early can shift the film or create peeling along the edges. During the curing process you may notice small water bubbles or a slightly hazy appearance, this is completely normal and will disappear within two to four weeks as the remaining moisture evaporates. I’ll walk you through the full aftercare instructions when you pick up your vehicle so you know exactly what to expect and how to care for your new tint during the curing period.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. A full ceramic tint package with windshield protection can run over $700, and I don’t want budget to be the reason you settle for lesser film or skip the windshield upgrade that makes the biggest difference in daily comfort. I offer financing options that let you spread the cost into affordable monthly payments. Many clients find that financing a premium ceramic tint package costs less per month than what they’re spending on gas to run their AC at full blast all summer. Ask about financing when you book your consultation or request a quote.
