Choosing your film and shade
We're happy to recommend films and shades, but the final choice is yours. If you choose a shade darker than North Carolina law allows and receive a citation, that responsibility is yours. Once film has been cut for your vehicle, changing the film type or shade costs extra beyond the original quote.
Deposits and cancellations
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your appointment. If you cancel or reschedule in writing at least 48 hours before your appointment, the deposit is not forfeited.
Invoices and payment
We'll send an invoice before the work is complete unless a different payment schedule is agreed. Invoices are due by the date shown, and unpaid invoices may pause or end the project. We accept cash, approved payment cards and other methods we offer.
Refunds
No refunds are issued once installation has started or the work is complete.
Inspection and pickup
Please inspect your vehicle before making the final payment and taking your keys. Final payment confirms you accept the work and releases MAC Details from further responsibility for the vehicle. If you pick up your vehicle outside business hours, final payment confirms you're satisfied with the work.
What's normal with new film
Even in a clean, controlled shop, a completely dust-free installation can't be guaranteed. Small specks of dust or lint under the film don't affect how it performs or how well it sticks.
Following International Window Film Association (IWFA) guidelines, film is judged from inside the vehicle at about six feet away in natural daylight. During the 30 to 60 day curing period, the following are considered acceptable as long as they are not obvious from that distance:
- Dust or dirt particles, hair or fibers
- Adhesive gel spots or fingerprints
- Small air bubbles or water haze
- Light scores or scratches
- Slight distortion, creases, edge lifting, nicks or tears
If any of these are still there after 30 to 60 days, bring the vehicle to the shop so we can look at it. We can't evaluate film by phone, email or photos.
Warranty
Your film is covered by the manufacturer's (HITEK) warranty. The warranty is non-transferable and covers cracking, peeling, bubbling and fading. Some fading, up to 25% over the warranty period, is considered normal. Defective film is replaced at no cost to the original buyer; if the same film is no longer available, a comparable or better film is used.
The warranty does not cover scratches, nicks, tears, or damage caused by faulty vehicle equipment or misuse. Nicks from seat belts and wear from plastic window gaskets are common and are not covered.
Windshield film
- Contamination. We take care, but a completely contamination-free windshield installation can't be guaranteed. Tiny creases from handling large pieces of film can occur and don't affect performance.
- Electronics. Despite precautions, water can reach electronics behind the dashboard. You accept this risk and release MAC Details from liability for related repairs.
- Attachments. Don't attach suction cups, stickers, radar detectors, phone mounts or GPS units directly to the film. Damage from them is not covered.
- Curing. Moisture between the film and glass is normal and evaporates as the adhesive cures, which can take from several days to a few weeks depending on temperature and humidity.
Tint removal
We remove old film with steamers and adhesive-removal methods. Removal can damage defroster lines, antennas or glass, and you release MAC Details from liability for damage that may occur during removal.
Card on file
You authorize MAC Details to keep your card or bank details on file for future transactions until you ask us in writing to remove them, and to charge any remaining balance when the service is complete.
Licensing
MAC Details holds the licenses required to perform this work, and all services follow applicable federal, state and local laws.
Changes to this agreement
Any change to this agreement must be in writing and signed by both you and MAC Details. Each party confirms it has the authority to enter into this agreement.
