Paint Correction in Clayton, NC

Three levels of correction — from a clean daily-driver refresh to a true show-quality finish. Honest percentages, no perfection claims.

If your paint looks dull, hazy, or covered in spider-web swirls under the sun, paint correction brings back the depth and clarity that washing alone can't. At MAC Details in Clayton, NC, I machine-polish out swirls, light scratches, water spots, and oxidation to restore a smooth, reflective finish. I offer three tiers so you only pay for the level of correction your paint actually needs — available standalone, or as the perfect prep step before a ceramic coating.

What Paint Correction Fixes

Automatic car washes, improper drying, and sun exposure leave your clear coat full of micro-scratches and oxidation that scatter light — which is why paint looks flat and gray. Correction levels those defects to bring back clarity and gloss.

  • Swirl marks and wash spider-webbing
  • Light-to-moderate scratches
  • Oxidation and chalky/faded paint
  • Water spots and etching
  • Overall dullness

Which tier? Daily driver that needs a refresh → Essential Finish. Want a near-flawless finish at the best balance of cost and result → Refined Finish. Chasing a true show-quality, defect-free finish → Owner's Finish.

Honest Expectations

I don't make perfection claims. Each tier removes a defined range of defects — the deepest scratches that have cut through the clear coat can't be safely polished out. I'll always tell you what's correctable before we start.

Better Together: Correction + Coating

Correction makes paint look incredible now; a ceramic coating locks it in so it doesn't re-swirl. If you're correcting anyway, adding a ceramic coating protects that fresh finish for years instead of months — most clients who correct end up coating. The Refined Finish and Owner's Finish corrections are the ideal prep for a coating.

Frequently Asked Questions

It ranges from $449 (Essential Finish, compact) up to $1,799 (Owner's Finish, large vehicle), depending on the level of correction and your vehicle's size. You get an exact quote up front.

Essential Finish is a single enhancement polish for daily drivers. Refined Finish is a multi-stage correction removing 85–90% of defects. Owner's Finish is an unlimited multi-stage correction with wet sanding for a true show-quality finish.

It removes most swirls and light-to-moderate defects depending on the tier. Scratches that have cut through the clear coat can't be safely polished out — I'll tell you honestly what's correctable first.

Essential Finish is about 1 day, Refined Finish 1–2 days, and Owner's Finish 2–3 days.

It's the ideal time — correction makes the paint perfect, and a coating protects it for years so it doesn't re-swirl. Many clients bundle the two.
